"Hey, what's new with you?"
That’s how we greet people when it’s been a while, right? Notice we don’t say:
"Hey, what’s old?" or "Tell me what I already know."
We ask about what’s new because new is exciting! And as business owners, we should never get too comfortable.
The True Threat: Ad Fatigue
Social media is incredible—it gives us easy access to our audience, offers a chance to go viral, and makes it simpler than ever to reach the ideal customer.
But…
There’s a flip side.
One major issue? Attention span. We’ve all seen the "TikTok brain" effect. Kids struggle to sit through movies, focus on homework, or even watch a video longer than 90 seconds.
Unfortunately, this impacts us too. Our audience has shorter attention spans—not because they want to, but because they have to. They’re bombarded with ads every second of the day!
So, how do we combat this?
Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting you hop on TikTok and start dancing.
There’s a smarter approach.
Keeping Your Audience Engaged
The key to managing shortened attention spans isn’t turning everything into 60-second sound bites. Instead, offer your audience a variety of content.
Don’t stop at one video—create ten.
One article? How about one hundred.
One tweet? Make it a thousand.
When people are genuinely interested, they’ll dig deeper. But you have to provide them with substance. They’ll explore your content, but only if you give them enough to dive into.
So, if you're running just one ad right now, it’s time to expand. Create at least three.
If you have just one video in your retargeting campaign, aim for five to ten more.
Now, go out there and create! And hey, if you want to be fruitful in other ways, I’m sure you’re a responsible adult. You’ve got this.
Catch you soon,
Ed
